The 15^th National Health Research Forum in Lao PDR

Theme:  Advancing Health Security and Life-Course Well-being through Research and Innovation in Lao PDR as well as in the region.

Subject: Invitation researchers to submit abstracts to the 15^th National Health Research Forum that hosted by the Lao Tropical and Public Health Institute, MOH with its partners nationally and internationally.

Date:   November 13^th-14^th, 2026

Venue: Crowne Plaza Hotel, Vientiane Capital, Lao PDR

Focused topics: 1. Antimicrobial resistance;

2. NTD and Molecular biology study;

3. Clinical and Tropical Infectious Diseases;

4. Non-Communicable Diseases – verbal autopsy and palliative care;

5. Mother and Child Health, Nutrition, Adolescent Health and Sexual and Reproductive Health;

6. Impacts of climate change, including food and water-related diseases, One Health.

1. Conference overview

The National Health Research Forum (NHRF) is a biannual event organized by the Lao Tropical and Public Health Institute together with its partner research institutions, namely the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute, Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health-National University of Singapore, International Centre for Antimicrobial Resistance Solutions (ICARS), the Lao-Japan Health Research Consortium, the JICA_SATREPS at IPL, AHEF from Japan and other national and international research collaborators.

II.  Aim of the forum

The forum will be to set a Fora to discuss the field of collaborative, multidisciplinary research and innovation that could advance health security and life-course wellbeing in Lao PDR as well as in the region by 2030.  The forum will enable the exchange of ideas and knowledge between the different disciplines to facilitate research and clinical interdisciplinary collaborations focusing on various health problems and health-related challenges.

Internal and international public health researchers, epidemiologists, social scientists, health economists, practitioners, and other experts in the field of environmental health and health research development who share a passion for exchanging ideas and analysis in the various fields of research concerning the impact of climate change. We believe that this forum could contribute to the elimination of some communicable diseases that emerge in the region, including the Lao PDR, by 2030.

The 15^th NHRF will establish effective links between the policy/political level, public health institutions, relevant sectors outside health, health aid agencies, and civil society organizations.

III. Focused scientific topics:

This 15^th National Health Research Forum will focus on collaborative, multidisciplinary research related to:

1. Antimicrobial resistance;

3. Clinical and Tropical Infectious Diseases;

VI. Guidelines and formatting of an abstract

• Abstracts must be submitted in English and in Word file;
• Abstract title – limited to 20 words (Font 14 and bold);
• Abstract text – limited to 300 words, including acknowledgements;
  (Please Note: word count is affected when graphs/tables/images are included)
•  Use only standard abbreviations. Place special or unusual abbreviations in parentheses after the full word appear the first time;
• No references, tables or graphics are included in the abstract;
• When using abbreviations within the body of the abstract, please spell out the full sentence at first mention and follow with the abbreviation in parenthesis;
• It is the responsibility of the author to ensuring that abstract text does not contain any typos or grammatical errors. The organizer will not be responsible for any errors published;
• No changes can be made after the abstract deadline has passed

Suggested Format of an abstract:

• Abstract title;
• Presenting the list of author and co-authors;
• Presenting the author and co-authors’ affiliated institution;
• Presenting the authors’ contact detailed information;
• Abstracts should clearly state:
  • Background and aims
  • Methods
  • Results
  • Conclusions
  • Finally, be sure to acknowledge any support you received that enabled the completion                             of your project (e.g., include the logos your academic and financial sponsors).

           Note:   Bried biodata with photos of author/co-author who will feature an oral or poster

           presentation is needed to submit (in Word file) at the same time with an abstract submission
